While the BP oil spill has caused great devastation to our Gulf Coast region of the United States, all most all of the beaches in Florida remain open, clean, and free of oil. Therefore, when the call came in from 103.5 Hank FM in Panama City Beach requesting that the Shane Wooten Band special guest with The Bellamy Brothers for the first annual Festival of the Beach 2010 it was an easy decision on the bands part to help.
Furthermore, Shane Wooten talked with ACMC and stated that growing up in Florida we sometimes take for granted the true natural resources we have, such as beaches, fresh springs, and rivers but we cannot forget spring break in Panama and Daytona Beach [laughs], which is why we were honored and really excited to play at Spinnakers a PCB landmark.
In addition, to Shane Wooten Band opening for the Bellamy Brothers there were many other bands there to perform, such as Bo Bice (American Idol), Tobacco Road, and The Roys, which helped to raise money and awareness for the non-profit organizations that also attended the event.
Shane stated that venue and the crowd was really awesome and showed all the bands a lot of love and appreciation for coming out and donating their time to the cause, which really made the six hour drive from Central Florida worth it [laughs]. Shane also stated that Channel 8 from A-30 was there and he got the opportunity to interview with them along with the Bellamy Brothers.
