CMA’s 44th Annunal Award Ceremony Wrap-Up

The CMA Award winners 2010 walked away with the victors’ spoils this year in Nashville, Tennessee, the town that made a million-dollar industry out of rustic folk music. Lady Antebellum bagged the ‘Vocal Group of the Year’, as well as the ‘Single of the Year’ for “Need You Now”. Backstage, reporters caught a jubilant Hillary Scott saying “I think if nothing was to happen for the rest of our lives we would be so happy and we just appreciate feeling the love tonight from our peers and being able to celebrate”.

The love was certainly felt all around, with Carrie Underwood sporting a brand new wedding band, and Miranda Lambert, with her fiancé Blake Shelton, both CMA Award winners 2010, crying and saying “”I don’t know what’s going on, but I told Blake I think we need to go to church!” Would that be a hint of wedding bells or just immense gratitude? “Entertainer of the Year” award winner Brad Paisley brought his own brand of love – for his grandfather, who he says encouraged him by saying he’d “never be lonely” with a guitar.

The other CMA Award winners 2010 for top-billed awards were Sugarland for “Vocal Duo of the Year”, Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin with “The House that Built Me” for “Song of the Year”, Mac McAnally, guitarist, for “Musician of the Year”. The 44th CMA Awards featured, as a special treat, a surprisingly good rendition of “Country Strong” alongside country veteran Vince Gill, which drew a standing ovation from some of the greats from the world of country music.
