May 28, 2011 – Willie Nelson and friends hit the road today mid Memorial day weekend to kick start his 2nd Annual Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown tour, which will take place at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion before moving on to 23 additional cities.
The tour is a made up of a rich combination of seasoned country artists and some of country’s newest faces, which includes Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, Craig Campbell, Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real, and Drake White on the main and side stages; a third, in-the-round style set called the Bluebird Cafe Stage features performances earlier in the day with Austin Lucas, Brent Cobb, Dani Flowers, Adam Hood, Erin Enderlin and Caitlyn Smith.
The tour will be a classic mix of the new and old styles of Country music and give audiences the chance to hear the classic legacy that Willie Nelson started over 30 years ago of tunes that where known as outlaw country, while hearing new artist, such as Brantley Gilbert that pinned “Dirt Road Anthem” recently released by Jason Aldean that combines country and rap.
